From Canvas Scraps to High Art: The Sustainable Vision of Alliem Art

We’re thrilled to introduce Alliem Art, a collaboration that proves the most beautiful creations often come from the most unexpected places. Founded by two artists, Ali and Lou (yes, our name is an anagram!), Alliem Art is more than just an Etsy shop—it’s a commitment to sustainability, quality, and the fascinating contrast of two creative minds.

The Origin Story: Giving Wood a Second Chance

Our background is in making canvases, panels, and tondos for other artists. In this work, we frequently encountered a problem: high-quality wood remnants that, while perfect, were destined for waste.

We decided to intervene. Instead of letting this beautiful material go to landfill, we began repurposing it to create our own, deeply personal works of art. Every sculpture, painting panel, and turned bowl you see in our shop is crafted from this salvaged wood, ensuring high quality while promoting a circular, eco-friendly approach to art making.

Introducing the Forces Behind the Art

The true magic of Alliem Art lies in the contrast between our founders' styles and techniques.

Ali: The Engineer of Elegance

Ali approaches art with the mind of an engineer. With expertise in 3D modeling and precision cutting, she utilizes CNC machinery to execute sophisticated designs. Her pieces focus on line, form, and dimension.

Ali's architectural influence is immediately clear: she draws inspiration from the disciplined structure of the Bauhaus and the geometric precision of Mondrian. Her work includes intricate Intarsia (wooden mosaics), detailed Bandsaw Boxes, and striking Animal Sculptures—all engineered elegance in solid wood.

Lou: The Painter of Atmosphere

Where Ali brings precision, Lou brings atmosphere. A traditional artist working in Oil, Acrylic, and Pastel, Lou captures mood and depth in her landscapes and semi-abstract paintings.

Lou’s artistic influences favour dramatic sophistication, drawing inspiration from the sweeping lines of Art Deco, the fractured perspectives of Cubism, and the high contrast and shadow of Film Noir. She also repurposes wood through classic woodturning, crafting smooth, elegant bowls and ornaments that feel both classic and contemporary.
